A perfect Z1

A perfect Z1

Recently, we have reported more frequently on one perfect car or another. Here we see a now very rare BMW Z1 in an extraordinary paint finish.

The BMW Z1, first introduced in 1987, was in production from 1989 to 1991 and marked the beginning of the BMW Z series. With only 8,000 units produced, it is a sought-after collector's item today. Particularly striking are its retractable doors that slide vertically into the sills. The body is made of interchangeable plastic panels, which reduce the vehicle's weight.

The Z1 is equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-six engine from the BMW 325i (E30), producing 170 horsepower and allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7.9 seconds. The top speed is around 225 km/h. Another feature is the special chassis with independent suspension and a multi-link rear axle, which ensures excellent driving dynamics.

The Z1 was available in six colors, but this one was painted in a custom color in purple at the customer's request. Due to its limited production and unique design, the Z1 has gained high collector value. Anyone looking to buy a Z1 today (as of 2024) should expect a price of up to $60,000.
