Spotted: Zolfe Classis GTC4

People that watch Autogespot often must have seen this spot already and maybe think that this “first” for Autogespot could be the spot of the day. This refreshing and eyecatching first for Autogespot deserves an article, without being spot of the day. A new English sportscar, the Zolfe Classis GTC4. As usual from the UK a cheap light weight sportscar of which just a handfull of examples will be built.

The car was spotted in France, probably on his way to Le Mans. A perfect location to show this car to car enthousiasts. The design is a melting pot of all sorts of classic and modern sportscars interpretated by the people that introduced Zolfe, Midlands business entrepreneur and car enthusiast Nic Strong and former Caterham technical director, Jez Coates.

The car isn’t big, you can compare it with the Mazda MX5 and Lotus Elise. These two cars are known for their fun factor, we just think that with the Zolfe you can have just as much fun.

A lot of you might think that this is another company that, after a few years of production, will go bankrupt again. Of course this isn’t what the people behind Zolfe have in mind, they are quite ambitious. They even want to sell cars in the USA. This must be the reason why they also offer an automatic gearbox. Under the body you can pick a variety of options. The basic version is powered by a 2 liter Ford engine. A faster version is based on a 2.3 liter Ford engine. Both small but very good four cillinder engines. This isn’t where it stops engine wise, they are now fitting a massive 505 bhp strong V8 from General Motors. With a weight of just 698 kg this must be a spectacular car.

The basic version, the 2 liter engine, is available for just £31,625. For that money you get a car cheaper than a Porsche Boxster but faster than a Ferrari F430. Image and styling are things you can debate about, but in all it isn’t an ugly little car!
