Exclusive: exotics in the snow!

The last couple of weeks we have been treated quite a severe winter in Holland and Belgium. For one of our regular visitors this was a great chance to test his cars in extreme weather conditions. Usually this happens with a test-team in the north of Scandinavia but isn't it much more fun to drive yourself? Wide tires, lots of power and fantastic cars. Read the story below.

Sunday November 23, 2008 - Porsche 997 Turbo RT12 Cabriolet
First we start with the Porsche 997 Turbo RT12 Convertible (what a name!). When I drove the car out of the garage it was still snowing quite heavily but that didn't keep me from going for a drive and shooting some pictures. Many people asked me if it is difficult to drive a car like this in these kind of weather conditions. Of course it isn't very common to release 700 bhp or 900 nm on a carpet of ice and snow. I have to say that the Porsche behaved very well, without doubt thanks to the winter tires. After a couple of controlled spin-outs (low speed of course) it was unfortunately time to put this beast back in the garage. Here are a few pictures how it looked like:

More wintery days came into the country, this time it was the Lambo's turn to spread its wings. Since LAM-666 isn't equipped with winter tires I had some doubts how it would act in the snow. The fact that this car does not have ESP doesn't really stimulate you to go full speed with this exotic. Nevertheless its 640 bhp was rather easy to keep under control, also thanks to Lamborghini's 4WD system. If you have driven these kind of cars you will get used to the fact that they give lots of drama on and off the road, but a day like this the interest was crazy. I think it is quite unusual to see these cars in this kind of weather. Here are some pictures of the car:

The last week of January my carbon hardtop will arrive. The first of its kind... More about this later!

Saturday January 10, 2009 - Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Roadster without soft-top
A few days later the snow was gone but the mist and frost had left a beautiful scene behind. The sun was shining this time so I decided to leave the roof off and to enjoy the beautiful nature. It was -3°C that day but the cabin was kept warm (the heat was on 32°C maximum). The day before I had some fun by putting my car sideways. A guy in his BMW X6 was parked on the other side of the road. When I passed him his mouth was wide open. An unavoidable side-affect was that the car became very filthy. You will see that on the pictures below:
