Aston Martin DBR22: The rarest sight in open-top luxury

This Aston Martin DBR22 was recently spotted in Geneva, marking only the third sighting of this ultra-rare model on our site. Previously, we saw one of these exclusive cars twice in Sitges, Spain, making this just the second distinct DBR22 ever documented on our site. Like the V12 Speedster, this is another modern open-top marvel from Aston Martin, the DBR22 draws inspiration from the legendary DBR1 and was launched to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Aston Martin's Q division.

Under the hood, the DBR22 features a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 715 hp and 753 Nm of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 319 km/h. While it shares the proportions of the V12 Speedster, the DBR22's design is even more captivating. The front and rear exhibit strong references to the DBR1, particularly in the taillights and headlights. The side profile is a masterful modern reinterpretation of the classic Aston Martin look, showcasing the designers' talent in blending tradition with innovation.

But the DBR22 is more than just a pretty face; it also showcases Aston Martin's latest advancements in manufacturing technology. Notably, it features a rear subframe made using 3D printing, underscoring the brand's commitment to innovation.

Limited to just about 10 units, the DBR22 is a remarkable find, combining heritage-inspired design with state-of-the-art technology.

On the other hand, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster shares the same 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine but is tuned to produce 700 hp, delivering 753 Nm of torque, similar to the DBR22. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and achieves the same top speed of 319 km/h. While the V12 Speedster is itself a rare model, with only 88 units produced, it is not as limited as the DBR22. The V12 Speedster delivers a thrilling, open-air driving experience, emphasizing a raw and visceral connection to the road, while the DBR22 offers a bit more power, quicker acceleration, and an even greater level of exclusivity with its limited production run.

Together, the DBR22 and V12 Speedster represent the pinnacle of Aston Martin’s open-top sports cars, blending heritage, performance, and innovation in their own unique ways.
