Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertibles spotted in Monaco

Two exclusive Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertibles were recently spotted at Monaco’s Casino Square, marking the first public sighting of the convertible version. This comes two years after the debut of the Batur Coupé during testing in La Bisbal del Penedès, Spain. Crafted by Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke division and the world’s oldest coachbuilder, the Batur Convertible continues Bentley’s tradition of creating highly personalized, hand-built masterpieces, following the Bacalar barchetta and Batur Coupé.

Alongside the two stunning Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertibles, a striking yellow-gold Bentley Continental GTC Speed was spotted, adding to the spectacle. The vibrant color of the GTC Speed perfectly complemented the black and matte orange Baturs, creating a captivating trio of luxury and performance.

The Batur Convertible mirrors the design innovation of its coupé counterpart, offering a glimpse into Bentley’s future design language. It features the most powerful iteration of Bentley’s legendary 6.0-liter W12 engine, delivering 750 PS. As this iconic engine ceases production this summer, the Batur Convertible is among the final models to house it, making it a historic piece of Bentley engineering.

Bespoke two-seat Grand Tourer

Building on Bentley’s rich heritage of open-cockpit cars, the Batur Convertible fuses the design of the Bacalar and Batur with the usability of a modern convertible. Its two-seat layout is accentuated by a ‘wraparound’ cockpit inspired by the Bacalar, while the dramatic ‘airbridge’ behind the seats and the tapered cowls at the rear evoke classic barchetta sports cars. These elements are not just for show; they also create a semi-enclosed luggage compartment behind the front seats.

The convertible roof system is both functional and beautiful, designed as a refined alternative to a hardtop. It provides insulation and acoustic treatments, and can be raised or lowered in just 19 seconds, even at speeds of up to 50 km/h. This feature allows the car to switch from a grand tourer to an open-top cruiser with a simple touch.

Individually commissioned masterpieces

Each Batur Convertible will be individually commissioned by its owner in collaboration with Mulliner’s in-house design team. A custom visualizer allows customers to personalize nearly every detail of the car, from color schemes to materials, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle.

The color options are virtually limitless, beginning with the full Mulliner palette and extending into bespoke paint finishes and hand-painted graphics. The exterior brightware can be customized in light or dark shades, satin or gloss finishes, or even titanium. A unique ombré effect on the front grille, which transitions from dark to light, is also an option.

Customers can further personalize the convertible roof, airbridge, and tonneau cover to harmonize with the car’s interior or exterior. Inside, Mulliner offers the option of 3D-printed rose gold elements, which can be applied to key driver touchpoints, including the Bentley Drive Mode Selector and Organ Stop vent controls. These exclusive features are crafted in collaboration with Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, highlighting Bentley’s ability to merge traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.

Exclusive and powerful

Only 16 Batur Convertibles will be produced, each handcrafted at Bentley’s carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, England. As one of the last Bentleys to feature the iconic W12 engine, the Batur Convertible delivers unmatched performance, with 750 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. The engine, paired with an eight-speed double-clutch transmission, benefits from enhanced turbochargers, a revised intake system, and improved intercoolers. The car also features a titanium sports exhaust system, with 3D-printed titanium finishers.

Batur Convertible car #0

The prototype, Batur Convertible car #0, has received the same level of bespoke attention as a customer-ordered vehicle. Its exterior is finished in a stunning Vermillion Gloss and Vermillion Satin duo-tone, with high-gloss carbon fiber elements on the front splitters, side skirts, and rear diffuser. The grille is a work of art, featuring a Gloss Dark Titanium matrix with ombré chevrons transitioning from Beluga in the center to Vermillion Gloss at the edges. The “endless bonnet” line and 22-inch wheels are also finished in Gloss Dark Titanium, with the wheels featuring Gloss and Satin Black Titanium spokes accented in Vermillion Gloss.

Interestingly, the Batur Convertibles spotted in Monaco bear a striking resemblance to Car #0, though the wheels differ. These wheels are still official Bentley OEM, suggesting that this could either be Car #0 with a different factory wheel option or a separate vehicle with a similar specification.
