Moscow 2012: Report TopCar Advantage GT

oIn 1939, the Russians built an enormous exposition- and amusement park in Ostankinsky District, Moscow. The VDNKh is as big as Monaco and is full of socialistic pieces of art. Via a big triumphal arch, the main entrance, we enter the 207 acres big park with two TopCars. We are about to have a fun evening with two Porsche Cayennes. The Vantage 2 and the first project of TOpCar, the Advantage GT. With the Advantage GT, we go back to the beginning of the company TopCar, because this is the first car the company made and which made them famous.

Unique design
We will tell you more about the All-Russia Exhibition Centre, the current name of VDNKh, later in our travel report. The park has beautiful roads and beautiful promenades which make it fun to ride with these cars. This report, we have two cars for you. The Vantage 2 and the more aggressive Advantage 2. Most of you will probably know the Vantage 2 from our reports from last year. Last year, TopCar made a one-off Carbon Edition. The copy in this report has the same bodykit only without carbon fiber and the car has a cream white paint. The wheels of the car are also white and, like every TopCar, they come from ADV.1. A lot of attention is paid to the interior on this copy. We see two kinds of brown leather. Further, the car has dark red carbon fiber and wood from the Cyrillic berch. The interior has something special due these combinations. In addition to what we see most this car isn’t a Cayenne Turbo but a new Cayenne Diesel. A car which drives very good, but more about that later.

The Advantage GT comes from 2007 and when it was introduced we gave the car some attention on our website. Together with RUF, TopCar is the only company who dared to make a completely new bodykit with one very important component, new headlights. The design of the Advantage is completely made out of the passion of the designer and director of the company. When you take a good look at the car you will recognize some elements which refer to fish. The typical front looks like the mouth of a fish and the gigantic intakes on the side look like the gills of a fish. The Advantage GT has a much bigger front bumper than the original Cayenne. The SUV is 20 centimeters longer than the original thanks to the new front and rear bumper. This ambitious project is all about standing out, even more standing out than at the current generation Cayenne. Next to the outstanding front bumper there are some other this which stand out, the headlights. The headlights, together with the fog lights and indicators, come from the 997 Turbo. The design looks completely different than a normal Cayenne with these adjustments.

Next to the front, all other components of the exterior are adjusted. This because the car has a completely new bodywork. It makes the car about ten centimeters wider. Everyone will see that this car has a new bodywork. The door handles are gone and replaced by a small button near the windows. This gives the car a very clean side. The adjustment of the car is a process which takes a lot of time. The back of the car is relatively simple with a new diffuser and quite a big rear spoiler. For a nice contrast with the white and black paint, the car also has darkened taillights. The copy also has a set of amazing ADV.1 wheels which fit the design of the Cayenne. In exchange for 50.000 Euros you will receive this bodykit from TopCar. TopCar will eventually build only 50 copies of this car and they are still working on the last few of them.

One step ahead
Nothing’s changed on the V8 in the front. The Advantage has a Turbo-engine which produces 450 bhp. Tuner 9ff offers several packages which will give the Cayenne some extra power. This can go to a maximum of 750 bhp. This car does have a Gemballa exhaust system. This makes the car sound very loud and the more rotations per minute the engine makes, the better the sound gets. The sound is something which fits perfectly to a car like this one. When you’re driving the Cayenne you feel that you’re driving a heavy car, but that doesn’t affect the handling. The car drives very solid and has a good response. Even winter conditions like snow are no problem for this car. It’s a 2300 kilograms heavy jackhammer which just keeps on going as long as you floor the pedal. The acceleration to 100 kph takes only 5.7 seconds. We think that it’s a very good decision by Porsche to come up with this SUV because there’s no other SUC which has such a good performance as the Cayenne.

When you step into the ‘old’ Cayenne you immediately feel the difference. The old Cayenne has a straight dashboard which makes it look clumsier and less sporty. In the new Cayenne, the interior is build around you which gives a more sporty feeling, just like the other Porsches. The center console is quite high and the seats seem to embrace you. The Vantage 2 which we have with us is owned by the owner of the company itself. This car is just a standard V6 diesel. Most cars for customers are Turbo versions and that makes this quite a strange appearance. A diesel in Moscow isn’t a bad idea at all. You stand in traffic jams almost every day and the economics of a big V8 engine isn’t a thing to make you happy. Next to that, the V6 engine with 240 bhp and 550 Nm of torque still makes it quite a fast SUV. It’s great to have a car with a lot of torque and because you won’t drive very fast in the city of Moscow, it’s a perfect car.

You can’t compare both Cayennes with each other. The Vanage 2 is a TopCar for those who want to have a Porsche Cayenne which isn’t completely standard but also doesn’t stand out too much. The exterior of this car is more elegant than aggressive. When you look at the Advantage GT this is a Porsche Cayenne which refers to the ultimate Porsche, the 911. But it’s also a car with which the tuner went a step further to create the ultimate SUV for their customers. An extravagant model, perfect for a confident person. The first impression is very important and that’s the same with this Advantage GT. Especially because this is a TopCar which you can’t judge based on pictures, you definitely have to see this car by yourself. It looks way more impressive when you stand next to it.
