Rare Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet spotted in NYC

Spotter Rivitography was wrapping up a disappointing day of car spotting in New York City when a friend messaged him on Instagram: a Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet W463 was parked by The Plaza on Central Park.

Rushing back, he couldn't believe his eyes - it was the first time he'd seen the Landaulet in person. The sheer presence of this rare vehicle left him stunned.

Mercedes-Benz produced only 99 units of this incredible G-Class, but something quite interesting caught my attention on the license plate of this particular one: it read "99Plus 1." Could the owner be hinting that this is the 100th unit? We're not entirely sure, as Mercedes-Benz officially announced a production limit of 99 units, but it's possible that this could indeed be the 100th one.

Update:

Recent information has shed light on the "99PLUS 1" license plate on this Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet W463. This vehicle turns out to be a unique 100th unit, not produced by Mercedes-Maybach itself but by Luminari Motor Company, a firm based in New York. The company carried out an impressive conversion of a 2016 Mercedes-AMG G 65 to create this vehicle, achieving a remarkable resemblance to an authentic Maybach. Notably, the Landaulets were never officially delivered to the US, only to other parts of the world, making this conversion even more significant.
