Rare supercar combo spotted in Milan

What an incredible sight in Milan, Italy! A rare combination of super- and hypercars was spotted cruising together: one of just 25 McLaren MSO HS, one of 88 Aston Martin V12 Speedsters, a Ferrari 488 Spider, and an ultra-rare Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Mansory Vivere - one of only two ever made. While spotting a V12 Speedster or a Mansory-tuned Veyron is already rare, the MSO HS stands out as one of the rarest McLarens ever produced.

Our site has recorded 48 sightings of the McLaren MSO HS, covering 13 distinct cars - meaning we've documented nearly half of the entire MSO HS production run. With only 25 production examples and two prototypes, the McLaren MSO HS is one of the most exclusive and desirable cars to come out of the Woking factory in the past two decades. It’s a true investment-grade car, with most serious McLaren collectors aiming to own one.

Initially, McLaren denied the existence of the MSO HS, but it quickly achieved collectible status. Each car was delivered in a highly bespoke specification, and buyers were personally selected by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) to own one. The "HS" designation, which stands for "High Sport," signifies the ultimate incarnation of a specific McLaren model. Prior to the MSO HS, the only other "HS" car to emerge from Woking was the McLaren MP4-12C HS in 2012, of which only 10 examples were built.

The MSO HS is an aero-focused model that generates 220 kg of downforce at 241 km/h and represents the final evolution of McLaren Automotive's debut P11 platform. McLaren's engineering team utilized all their knowledge and experience from the McLaren P1 and P1 GTR projects to push the platform to its absolute limits. The M838TL twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the 675LT was blueprinted, with the heads hand-ported and polished to produce 679 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful variant of the P11 platform cars. Engine restrictions were also lifted to deliver full torque in all driving modes at all times, resulting in an exhilarating experience on both road and track.

Nicknamed the "688 HS" for its metric horsepower output, the McLaren MSO HS is based on the 675LT platform but features significant aerodynamic upgrades. The most notable addition is the high-level rear wing inspired by the P1 GTR, which also functions as an airbrake. To ensure proper aerodynamic balance, the front of the MSO HS was redesigned with dive planes and louvred front wings to complement the increased downforce. Although it generates much higher downforce than the underlying 675LT, the HS achieves a sublime balance of high-speed road holding and ride comfort.

As standard, the MSO HS includes the MSO Roof Scoop - a functional, roof-mounted induction air inlet available only to MSO's most important clients. This roof scoop transforms the car's aural drama, giving it qualities reminiscent of the P1.
