Many have been eagerly anticipating this moment for the past months and weeks, and now the time has come. Bugatti presents the Chiron successor, Tourbillon. Read on to discover the first details about the new hypercar.
It is always a historic moment when Bugatti introduces a new model. And we are not talking about a car based on a Veyron or Chiron, but a completely new creation. This has only happened twice since Bugatti was acquired by the VW Group. This is the third time. The Chiron had a very balanced and quite long run. The Chiron was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in 2016, which is eight years ago. In the meantime, special models such as the Chiron Pur Sport, the Chiron Super Sport, the Centodieci, the Divo, the La Voiture Noire, and many other small series, all based on the Chiron, were introduced. It was really time for Bugatti to present a completely new car.
Many people feared that the new Bugatti would be an electric car after the new CEO Mate Rimac announced a completely new engine. However, everyone underestimated the legendary Bugatti chief. Not a single cylinder is lost. They are just arranged differently. Instead of the legendary W16, the new Bugatti is equipped with a V16 engine, which gives the car a completely different character and, of course, a different sound.
Let's talk about the design. The design of the new Tourbillon has also changed significantly, but in a way that it can still be easily identified as a Bugatti. On the side, you can still see the legendary C-design element, although it is slightly smaller and a bit more angular than that of the Chiron. It would be more comparable to that of the Bugatti Divo. The rear reminds us a lot of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire. However, it also has some new design elements, as we can see in the pictures. The headlights are very similar to those of the Chiron, again featuring four LED units, but not squares; rather, they are lying L-shapes. All in all, the new Bugatti looks extremely modern and fits perfectly into Bugatti’s history. It is a powerful yet incredibly stylish car.
Regarding the technical data: The V16 of the Tourbillon delivers a proud 1,800 HP. And that is outrageous, considering that this is simply 200 HP more than the Chiron. In fact, the 8.3-liter V16 is a naturally aspirated engine, which means that the four turbochargers that the Chiron had are omitted. The Tourbillon will be built 250 times and offered at a unit price of $4,600,000. The first deliveries are expected to begin in 2026, at the time when the Mistral is expected to be fully delivered. So please be patient for these two years and hope that you might see one of these breathtaking pieces at an exhibition or even as a test drive car on the road.
